  HARTLAND IN ACTION

Meet Some of Our New Students!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of 19 new students from around the globe, including Belize, Colombia, China, Korea, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, and the United States. Each one brings a powerful testimony of how God has led them to Hartland College, where they seek to be trained as professional missionaries committed to proclaiming the third angel’s message.

These students represent diverse cultures and backgrounds, yet they share a common goal: to answer the call of God in their lives. Their stories are filled with moments of divine guidance, challenges overcome, and a deep desire to serve. Here are just a few:

Eli Goree, Canada
I grew up in a very secular environment. In my childhood, I was exposed to drug culture, violent crime, poverty, sexual immorality, LGBTQ lifestyles, and many other corrupting influences. In my early years after leaving home, I committed myself to pursuing success in a worldly mold as a movie actor.

After my conversion, I had to find a place to go where I could be immersed in the culture of biblical Adventism as an adult. I researched and found that Hartland College could provide that environment.
I also chose Hartland based on my goals for my future in ministry. I believe the messages we have in this church truly are the answer to not only the problems in the world today but to the problems that are faced in the communities I come from personally.
This prompted me to make it my goal to open a school near my home in Canada to minister to the spiritual, educational, socioeconomic, and health needs of the community. Hartland is a pattern for that kind of school. Hopefully one day I can also establish a school in Ghana where half of my lineage is from.
I see Hartland as a providential appointment for me from God in the work he has given me a vision to do.

Neeke Rancharan, Belize
May God be praised! My journey to Hartland College has been marked by deep personal loss and overwhelming uncertainty, but God’s hand has guided me every step of the way.
After graduating as a nurse, my life was ravaged by COVID-19. I lost my best friend to the virus—she died in my arms—and I had to say goodbye to many church family members and friends in Botswana.

For 22 months, I found myself in Maryland, and then I was back in Belize for another 22 months, like a ship without a sail—unsure of where to go. During that time, everything that could go wrong did. Most recently, I found out my dad has cancer, and just two months ago, I lost two uncles and my grandmother. All this has left me battling grief on all sides.
Through all this heartache, I was lost and didn’t know what was next. But when God’s timing came, it was swift, just as Isaiah 60:22 says, “In its time, I, the Lord, will make it happen swiftly.” Coming to Hartland was sudden, but it was exactly what I needed. I’ve met people here who truly understand my struggles, and for the first time in a while, I feel supported.

Zhang Minghao, China
I am so happy and excited to share my testimony. There have been difficulties and tears in this journey of faith, but God is always the perfect provider.
When I was at my lowest point and could not find the value and meaning of life, God was like a warm light that gave love and calling to bring back people like me with the Word of God. And God gave me a burden in my heart.

I’ve been looking for a place where I can be trained to be a humble servant of God, and Hartland’s goal for education is to train young people who will stand for God. So, this school became my goal when I was 17 years old, and God confirmed it.
Satan didn’t seem to like me coming to this school, so he kept blocking me. I had no money to pay tuition and visa or living expenses and so on. But God paid for most of it, and it was always just enough.
The Chinese government also picked on me, restricting me, checking and monitoring my travel here. When I was about to take off to the United States, the police called me and said that I did not report and get permission to leave, so they would stop me at customs and tell me to go back to applying for going abroad.
My heart was very scared. The customs officers looked at me, but they seemed to know nothing and just asked some simple questions. So, I went all the way through, and I couldn’t help crying, “God, it seems that you really want me to come to this school!”

Dorcas Moraa Onchwari, Kenia
As an undergraduate, I pursued an electrical engineering degree. I planned to volunteer in a mission field for three years after graduating, serving God to show my gratitude to Him for faithfully guiding me through four years of study. Then I would get back to my career field. But God had other plans.

At the end of my second year of missionary work, I started having this impression that God was calling me to serve Him in full-time ministry. It was against my family’s preference, but after a month of prayer and reflection, I finally decided to accept the call.
All through my three years of volunteering at the mission, I faced health challenges which doctors were not able to remedy. I finally became bedridden for five months. In desperation, I requested three friends to pray and fast with me, and on the third day, my health was restored.
I had applied to the Adventist University of Africa (AUA) to pursue a master’s in divinity in order to be equipped for the ministry. I was accepted but couldn’t afford to enroll. I prayed about training, and in my third year at the mission, a friend referred me to Hartland College. I was accepted under the missionary training fund (MTF)—God’s answer to my prayers.
Hartland accepted me for the fall quarter, which left me only one month to prepare. I praise God that all my financial needs to get to Hartland were covered within 26 days through well-wishers. I was also able to get an embassy appointment at short notice and was accepted after a two-minute interview!
I’m full of gratitude to God, the Hartland family, and the kind friends and MTF donors who have made it possible for me to be here preparing for full-time ministry.
